How to Use Alignment Grids for Projection Mapping with Free After Effects Preset
Projection mapping looks amazing, but figuring out the first step can be confusing. In this video, I share a free alignment grid preset for After Effects that makes it easy to map visuals onto real-world stages and screens.
I’ve used this in theatre productions where we’d rig up a projector, then throw this grid over the stage. I would then be able to map out where VFX need to be. For my latest Safe Zones preset update, I used the vertical video version so that I could see which parts of the video would be obscured. The grid works for both horizontal and vertical layouts, and is built entirely with shape layers — easy to install, easy to customize.
