Ikegami IPX-100 Mini Base Station Integrates SDI and IP Television Production
Ikegami’s IPX-100 IP-oriented mini base station makes its International Broadcasting Convention debut as a fully deliverable production modelon stand 12.A31 in the Amsterdam RAI Centre, September 12-15.
“The IPX-100 elevates our UNICAM product range to a higher than ever level of operational efficiency,” comments Michael Laetzsch, Broadcast & Professional Video Division Manager at Ikegami Europe. “Combining the core features of our industry-proven BSX-100 base station plus media-over-IP support, it serves as a highly efficient bridge between SDI and IP production infrastructure. Just 2U high by half 19-inch rack width, the IPX-100 is one third smaller in size than the BSX-100 and ideal for use in mobile production vehicles, REMI control rooms, city center studios or wherever space is at a premium.”
A UNICAM camera can feed into an IPX-100 via up to 3.5 km (2.2 miles) of conventional SMPTE-hybrid fiber cable. The camera head is powered by the IPX-100. An integral test signal generator allows system configuration before a camera or other SDI source is connected. Support is also included for auxiliary data to and from the camera. An HD-SDI video monitoring output allows direct connection of a field monitor to the IPX-100, facilitating initial setup.
Connecting an Ikegami OCP-300 or OCP-500 panel via Ethernet to the IPX-100 enables easy zoom and focus control of a remote camera even if an IP connection to the wider ST 2110 infrastructure is not yet established. A personal computer running the Google Chrome web browser can simultaneously be coupled to the network hub, enabling system supervision via the Ikegami XE Web View service provided by an optional protocol gateway. Automated setup can be performed using an NMOS IS-04/IS-05 feed from the IPX-100 to a local or remote central automation system.
Three versions of the IPX-100 are available: IPX-100H for the HDK-X500 and the latest UNICAM HD cameras, IPX-100U for UNICAM-XE 4K/UHD cameras, and IPX-100M for UNICAM-HD as well as UNICAM-XE models.
The front panel of the IPX-100 provides access to the control menu. This includes LED indicators showing the unit’s current status plus a call button and red/yellow tally status. License key options can be accessed via the USB connector at the time of purchase or added later:
• Option IPXOP-130 includes a 12G video trunk/QTV channel. Option IPXOP-131 is mandatory for this feature.
• Option IPXOP-131 provides support for JPEG-XS (SMPTE ST2110-22 compliant) compression, allowing the signal delivery bandwidth to be matched to the available IT infrastructure bandwidth. Compression ratio can be selected from high (1/6) to medium (1/8), low (1/16) or minimum (1/32). JPEG-XS performs visually lossless compression with ultra-low encode/decode latency and is more energy efficient than other compression schemes.
• Option IPXOP-132 allows upscaling from 1080p HD to 2160p UHD.
• Option IPXOP-133 provides a simultaneous HD output including 3D LUTs, compatible with 33 x 33 x 33 or 65 x 65 x 65 cube files.
• Option IPXOP-134 allows the IPX-100 to perform SDI-to-IP and IP-to-SDI conversion.
