AE 2017 and 2018 crash when I just hit “space”
Hi all, just installed a new system (X299, i7-7820x, 64GB, GTX 1070, , BMD Mini Monitor, Win 7 x64). Everything works fine, hardware has been checked many times.
So I install AE 2018, open the program, start a new project and create a composition, just one text layer. I can srub through the timeline without problems. But when I hit “space” AE will crash immediately.
I’ve tried everything including adjusting audio settings, enabling/disabling caches and so on. Nothing helped.
Unfortunately it’s the same with AE 2017. 2017 Crash Log says the following:
Crashed thread: 93 [5680] THREAD_PRIORITY_ABOVE_NORMAL
Exception Code: EXCEPTION_ILLEGAL_INSTRUCTION
Exception Parameters:
Exception Message: 3221225501 {AUSNAHME} Ungültige Anweisung Es wurde versucht, eine ungültige Anweisung auszuführen.
Application Specific Information:
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe After Effects CC 2017\Support Files\dvaaudiodevice.dll
And now the funny thing: CC 2015 WORKSANY HELP IS APPRECIATED. TIA !!!

Does it crash if you disable audio in the preview panel? Does it crash if you disconnect the BMD Mini Monitor?

Unfortunately crash happenswith audio disabled.
Presence of Blackmagic hardware doesn’t make a difference either.

Have you tried resetting your preferences? Hold Ctrl+Alt+Shift while launching After Effects.

Of course I did.
And it happens on a fresh install, also.
