  How do I mask lens flare?

  Hoping someone can help me with this.

  I have two animated vector layers (from Illustrator), with an adjustment layer on top with an animated lens flare added.

  Is there a way I can mask the lens flare layer so that it only appears over the two vector layers, and doesn’t show up on the bottom background layer underneath?

  Precomp the layers you want affected including the Adjustment layer with effect on it.
  You should have two layers after, one precomp with vector and lens effects then background.

  Lens flares shouldn’t be applied to adjustment layers. They should be on black solids with the layer’s blending mode set to screen or add.

  Anyway, you should precompose your vector layers and then use that precomp as a Track Matte for your lens flare layer or use the Set Matte effect on the lens flare layer and point it to the vector layer precomp.
