  I’m kinda confused as to what software was used to create this explainer. Could After Effects be used to create an exact replica of this? Or is this a C4D thing? Or was something else used?

  I wouldn’t approach something like this in Ae alone. I think C4D or a combination of C4D and Ae would be better, but you could also use just about any 3D application.
