How to adjust the start point (in point) of video footage in a comp?
Is there a good explanation somewhere on how you can adjust the in or out points of video footage once you have it in a comp? I’d like to trim my footage’s starting point to a different spot in the clip. The layer has existing key frames that I’d like to stay in place. Just wondering what would be the best option. Have you seen any good video tutorials on this subject?

There is no slip and slide option similar to NLEs but you can do this by hand.
Place your current time indicator on inpoint and press Option + [.
Then move your current time indicator to where you want it to start and press [. -
Yes, but all my key frames move. There is no easy way to adjust the video in point and keep the key frames at the same location on the timeline? Or do I have to adjust all the key frames if I change the video in with shortcut “[” ?

I found it. Once you trim the video layer in the time time with the “Option + {” key shortcut you can now grab the non selected portion of the layer and drag it one way or the other. Key frames stay put. This allows you to “slide” your footage just like a NLE program.

You can slip a layer in After Effects with the Pan Behind tool. Press Y to activate Pan Behind, then drag the clip horizontally in the timeline. This will preserve timeline in/out points and keyframes relative to the timeline, not to the clip. You can’t slip the beginning or end of the clip past its in/out point on the timeline, so depending on how much you want to slip, you will need to make sure to trim the clip.
