Kuwahara Filter for After Effects
Hi everyone! Last year, Blender added the Kuwahara filter as a node in their compositor. Which essentially creates a very crisp, painterly effect overtop of any footage. I’ve also seen this technique incorporated by others into software such as Unreal Engine. So I was just curious if there was any similar technique available for After Effects since having such a simple, yet effective painterly filter available for After Effects would be a great addition to a lot of stylized workflows.

There are plenty of plug-ins that will do the job, but it really comes down to yur taste.

Just Googled “Kuwahara Filter” and it looks quite like the Brush Strokes effect in AE. I’m sure newer filters do a lot more, but as a starting point it would be worth trying before spending money.
