    Cinema 4D Release = 2024.2.0 Operating System = Apple MacOS > macOS 14.1.1
    Video Card/GPU type = Apple M3 Max

I’m trying to UV wrap a model with cylindrical geometry and any time I add a UV map from to my geometry by projection, it automatically makes a bunch of UV seams all over the geometry, even though I have no edges selected. It doesn’t matter how I do the UV projection either (cylinder, frontal, shrink, etc.), I always end up with a bunch of UV seams all over my edges that I did not cut. Even if I have the edges that I want the UVS cut on before I project, it still makes the random UV seams on edges I never selected. And then when I select the edges of my model that I want to cut and try to relax my UVs, it doesn’t cut the edges that I have selected, it cuts the UV seams that were created when I first set the UVW from Projection.
In my first screenshot, I have already set the UVW from Projection using shrink. Then I went to edge select mode so you can see all the white lines (uv seams) that were auto created. The yellow line is what I selected because that’s that actual edges that I want to cut my UVs on.
In my second screenshot, I have gone to the Relax UV tab and tried to cut my selected edges, but it wont cut on my selected edges. It cuts on the previously auto generated UV seams when I hit apply. And it doesn’t matter what exact settings I use within the Relax UV tab, it always cuts on the wrong edges when I click apply.

    Hi Conrad,

You could cut in the edges you want, by selecting the desired edges, then going to the Select menu and choosing Set Selection. Then drag and drop the yellow triangle you obtained to the Cut Selected Edges box under Relax UV, go to Projection and choose Flat, then return to Relax and click Apply, I tried to explain this in the video below.

I hope this was useful to you

if that didnt work, you could try using the interactive mapping set to cylindrical. Start by deleting UV tag, set from projection flat, then begin interactive mapping. Would be best to treat the ‘caps’ seperately though i think. I cant replicate your problem so this may be not what you need.
