    Hello everybody !

First of all sorry for the mistakes, my english is a little rusty…

So ! I have a low/mid-range laptop. To work with After effects. And no, i’m not afraid ???? This said, i have some “big” projects, with 3D layers, and I think my computer will be a little hmmm borderline.

    I have this thing : https://www.msi.com/Laptop/CX61-2QF/Specification

    A MSI laptop with a 940M, a i5-4210m, a pitiful HDD (5200 rpm) and 6GB of RAM (oh, and Windows 10).

    Sooooo, my question is :

In the event that I could modify some of the components of this laptop, what’s the priority ? I thought to replace the HDD by a SSD…. But perhaps the most important is to add a new processor ? (i thought about a i7 with height cores) Or add 2 GB of RAM ?

Or must I forgot this idea and try to buy a low/mid-range desktop computer ?

Thanks by advance for your precious advices !

    Thanks for your reply !

So, you tell me that’s the RAM which is the most important thing while working in After Effects ?

If I consider the rendering time is not important (I can let my computer running the whole night for exemple), the first thing I need is more RAM ? Some times, with several 3D layers and some effects, there is some “slow down” when I work in AE : it will be solve with more RAM ?
