Mixing up Files
Hello. I am using a MacBook Pro macOS Monterey Version 12.4 with 32 GB of Installed RAM, AMD Radeon Pro 5500M 8 GB graphics, and 2.4 GHz 8-Core Intel Core i9.
I have an image cut up into different layers in a psd file that appears to be normal when opened in photoshop. When I import the file into AE, the file retains its name, but, when clicked, shows layers of a completely different file that also has sliced images. Sometimes, when I scrub through it, I can see flashes of the layers from the file that I want.
I have already tried restarting both AE and my laptop, resetting preferences, removing and re-downloading AE, updating photoshop, and running a maintenance check using OnyX. Also, my system compatibility report shows no conflict to report.
How can I fix AE homogenizing different files?

It seems to me at least that the layers from After Effects on how that works is not exactly the same as in Photoshop, even if they are both from Adobe, it seems to work a bit differently from the small amount of time I was working with layers on Adobe After effects. I would suggest if nothing else work, redo all the layers you did in Photoshop but in After Effects after saving each individual layers from Photoshop to certain formats, then pass them over to your After Effects layers.
