I have a question regarding the Transform effect in premiere and can’t find any info on it. M editing 4k footage in a 1080 timeline. I’d like to scale it (which is a talking head in front of a greenscreen) and the greenscreen replacement to different framing so there are no jump cuts during the talking head.

So let’s say I have a 4k clip in the 1080 timeline and the clip is set to scale 50% so that the entire image fits. If I apply an adjustment later over a clip in the timeline, is it scaling up the 4k footage or is it scaling the clip as it’s seen in the timeline? Basically am I degrading the footage by using transform instead of nesting a 4k sequence? Using The transform effect on an adjustment layer is a lot faster than nesting.

If you had to scale your clip down to 50% to make the full frame fit in the 1080 timeline, then scaling it back up will use all of the 4K information.
