After Affects Alternatives
Can anyone recommend some good alternatives to after effects?
I am sick of wasting hours on resolving rendering and export issues. And I have had enough.
I have experienced many different issues with rendering files; the AE to ME workflow just refusing to work, renders hanging half or three quarters the way through. This seems to be a recurring theme over the past 2 or 3 years and I am unable to find any solutions. Adobe bill me very months for software that does not do what it is supposed to do. It’s time we went our separate ways. I want a divorce.

I’m sorry you’re struggling. Obviously we’re going to talk about AE here and I don’t have experience with other VFX / compositing software so can’t help much.
Might be worth taking a different approach to rendering – have you tried software render only, for instance?

I’ve used AE for over 15 years. I used to love it. Now it is painful to use and I try to avoid it when I can. It really has no good all around competition for everything it does, so I keep returning to it.
Best alternatives I know of are :
Fusion or Nuke for compositing.
Apple Motion or Cavalry for Motion Graphics.
Hit Film Pro for being the most similar in interface.
If anyone has others I’d love to check them out.
I’ve switched from Premiere/AE to Final Cut/Motion for the most part. I still use AE for a lot of things though. Motion is weird and lacks polish. It works best if you think of it as a development tool for Final Cut plugins.
