  Help! AE freezing on every action

  Hello there

  I am a bit lost here and could really do with some help.
  After effects is freezing for a few mins every time I do anything. This can be: clicking File on the menu bar, clicking on the timeline etc.
  Once it unfreezes, I then try the next action and it freezes again. The program basically doesn’t work. I have been working on AE intensely for the last few months and it has been fine up until today. For what it’s worth Premiere is still running fine.

  Fixes I have already tried:

  • Purged memory and cache
  • Deleted After effects folder in roaming files
  • Disabled GPU acceleration
  • Updated Chip and Graphics drivers
  • Uninstalled & reinstalled After effects
  • Installed older versions of After effects

  Regardless of AE version 18, 22, etc. the same issue persists.
  Also there is plenty of space on my hard drives.

  If anyone has any ideas as to what could be causing this/ how to solve it – I would really appreciate the help! Many thanks S

  Windows 10
  NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 Super
  AMD Ryzen 9 3900X 12-Core Processor 3.79 GHz

  64GB RAM
