  Synced audio not present in AAF or ALE export

  Hi all,

  I am creating dailies in Resolve 17.4 (Mac Mini M1, Big Sur) for an AVID workflow. Separate audio is synced with timecode in the media bin (with append option).

  Timelines are created with the clips with all the audio tracks including camera audio.

  Timelines are exported as linked AAFs as well as ALEs, and media is exported as MXF Op Atom.

  Issue: AAFs and ALEs don’t bring in the audio data for the synced tracks even though the tracks are present on the timeline (no waveform either). However, the clips themselves have all the audio information if I bring them into AVID via the MediaFiles folder & database file method.

  I’d like to find out whether this is a known bug or in fact how it is intended to work.

  Because I can’t see another way of exporting these clips individually and also retain the timeline tidy-up.

  I should also mention, the AAFs don’t work as intended in Premiere either.

  When resolve creates the synced clips, it has the unfortunate side effect of making it look like those timeline tracks are still using camera original audio, not the audio recorded separately and synced up. In essense, you list is still pointing to the camera recorded audio, not the synced audio you created in resolve.

  My method involves editing the ALE in notepad++ to properly identify the audio information, so that the bin that is created during your AAF import, can be adjusted to show the audio information.

  I then do a relink in Avid to the raw video and audio files, and end up with a timeline with proper clips.
