Pause video layer until triggered by slider
Hello! First post so apologies if any info is missing. I’m experienced with AE but very unexperienced with expressions, and I can’t manage to figure this out.
Short version: I’m looking for an expression referencing a Time Remap (or something else, I’m open to ideas!), where a video layer remains frozen on the first frame, until it’s triggered to play as normal by a slider.
Long version with context: I’m creating a mogrt template that has an end card consisting of a short sentence, and then an animated logo (company logo in .mp4 format). But I want the end card inPoint time to be controllable depending on the length of the rest of the mogrt. So I’ve got an expression for the text to fade in, referencing a slider, and then I’ve got the mp4 fading in by referencing that same slider four seconds after the fact. The problem is, the mp4 is only 4 seconds long, so there’s nothing to fade in at the end of the 60 second template. I’ve time remapped it so the layer covers the whole timeline, but it’s only the frozen end frame that fades in. My idea is to create a Hold keyframe at the beginning of the animation with a regular keyframe right after, and to create an expression that tells the time remap effect to hold on that first keyframe until it hits the slider’s time. Only thing is I’ve never learned expression syntax and am not sure where to start on telling AE to do that, or if it’s possible.
Many thanks for the help!
