  Save frame output different from preview

  Hello,

  I am using After Effects with Trapcode’s “Form” plugin with an .obj file to render high resolution (5760×3240) stills. The project includes a background layer, a layer for Form, and a camera. I have a view of what I’d like to render out in the preview window for the active camera, but the still image exported differs from what is displayed in After Effects. Is there any way to get After Effects to render what is displayed within the preview window properly? What could I be doing wrong? Any suggestions appreciated.

  Given you’re working at such a high resolution, the difference might be simply that the preview is not displaying at Full quality.

  I also had a really stupid thing recently where somehow my comp settings had a resolution set to Third, so even though i was creating at 1920, my outputs were at 650-ish. It took my an age to spot the issue, no idea how it happened.

  If the final renders are fine and it’s jsut the still images, you might consider FX Console from Video Copilot. It’s a free plugin and includes the ability to take still images from the preview window:
