a generate effect that duplicates and shrinks a video layer?
Basic question, I think…
Is there an effect that can be applied to a video layer that “multiplies” it? Like, turn the video into a quad split so 4 copies are on screen, or 9, or 16, etc? I feel like there must be. Like something called “The Multiplier”, right?

maybe, scale your vid layer down and use CC repitile?

the motion tile effect will do it, you’ll need to adjust the output width and height together, but then it will scale and replicate at the same time.

You would adjust the Tile Width and Height properties (not the Output Wd & Ht)

Also Repetile does the same thing, but expanding the layers boundaries to get the results.
It has lots of tiling modes, unfold is very useful.

You should look into the Digital Anarchy 3D Assistants Pro plug-in. Wait… what? Oh, Red Giant purchased that and it’s not called Red Giant PlaneSpace and part of the Effects Suite. No? Now it’s part of the Universe? Not the Universe? Now it’s called Red Giant Complete? What? Are you kidding me? Red Giant is now Maxon? And they make no mention of this plug-in anymore?
WTF is happening? I’m getting too old for this.
