After Effects with Apple M1 Chip
Hi All,
I wondered if anyone has any experience working in After Effects on an iMac or Macbook that has the new M1 processor? I’m looking into upgrading but am nervous about deviating from the tried and tested Intel processors. Can anyone tell me how it compares for preview playback?

There are a few links that show how well Adobe products work with the M1 chip.
If that is all you are worried about, then you are lucky to have the option.

My elderly iMac was dying, and I had to upgrade. Since I was on a budget tighter than a Victorian corset, I went for the new Mac M1 Mini. It’s even faster than the “professional” level PC at my office. Although I did have to invest in an external hard drive for project storage, the connection is more stable than the old iMac as well.

I’m a firm believer that if when you get into this field, it should be mandatory to get an external faster drive.

Again, with my tight budget, I got the cheapest Mac Mini (which is now $150 less, of course). It does give me warnings of a full hard drive and too many apps open at once if I don’t manage my workflow. I’m contemplating another one to work in an array if I have to get any larger projects…
