Multiple clip tracking
Dear fellow cows
I have not done any live-action VFX in quite some time so I am a bit rusty.
My dilemma is repetition. I have many, many hours of footage that I need to cover up a nose ring on the actress in AE.
It is essentially an instructional talking head but it has to be split up into thousands of 5-10” clips.
My first thought was duplicate the source footage, track, patch and render in AE. Then edit this pre-painted footage in PR.
Problem: these clips are 30mins long each and the AE tracker bombs out as soon as the actress looks away or takes a sip of water.
So I have resorted to doing things in reverse. Sync sound, Edit +-150 clips from 30mins of footage then replace with AE comp and then track each individually (tracker now works well as I have removed anything but camera-facing delivery)
I then had the brain wave of closing all the gaps in PR before Replacing with AE comp but then there is no way (to my knowledge) of undoing this replace with AE comp option in PR so back to sq 1.
It is taking me a ridiculously long time to achieve the desired result (which looks great) but is not budget friendly as the end result is looking like 20 odd- hours of finished footage.
I refuse to believe this is the only way to go about this!
Any other, more effective suggestions would be highly appreciated and certainly have a virtual beer sent their way!
Cheers!
