  License AE only when I need it.

  I’ve used AE since COSA, but only every now and again. I’ve had an old CS5 version of it that I’ve used for many years.

  But now I’m using a new M1 Mac mini with Big Sur, so it looks like I’ll have to use CC if I want to keep using AE.

  My question is: Can I buy a monthly license when I need to use it, let it expire. Then purchase another one when I need to use it again months later? Or is there some hidden small print in the license agreement to discourage this?

  Get the monthly rolling subscription (not annual) and cancel before the end of the month.
