  • Using 1 layer’s alpha as track matte for 2 solids

    Hi all,

I know there must be a smart way to use one layer as an alpha matte for 2 different solids using precomps but I am having a hard time simplifying it in my head… because it can only take its alpha info from the layer above it in the composition, I am having to duplicate the layer. Can someone point me to a better way?

I need one solid layer to be blue, in ‘multiply’ blending mode at 55% opacity, and then I need second layer the same blue, in ‘color’ blending mode at 100% opacity. Both solids should be using the same layer (a rotoscoped figure) as alpha matte. What am I missing?

As always, v much appreciate your help!
