I’m trying to make a video like this: https://youtu.be/iPYOyVs-LMY?t=15 where a character from a show sings a song using existing dialogue. I know how to gather the dialogue and edit it in time with the music, but I am struggling with the pitch correction. The pitchshifter in Premiere seems to distort the audio too much, and I struggle with identifying the correct pitch for each word. Also, autotune programs I have tried have not worked well at all for this purpose. Does anyone know of an optimal way to correct for pitch, or a program that can do it better?

Pitch-shifting or any audio time change can only go by so much before it becomes distorted or doesn’t work.

For example many European films converted for US audiences are 4% faster than originally made. Most people can’t tell the difference but dialog is faster.

The more you increase or decrease the speed after a certain point, even pitch-shifters don’t work.

However instead of using a video editing program, try Audition, Pro Tools, etc as they have better ones built in.

If you want to spend the money, Izotope RX is great.
