  Recreating senoidal function visualisation

  Hello!
  I’m trying to recreate a visualisation of a senoidal function like the one below in After Effects:

  

  I’m a beginner in After Effects and the methods i’ve tried until now have resulted in wonky movements. I imagine there’s an easier way to couple the animations from the wave and the circle and all the elements together, but i don’t know where to start looking.

  There’s a couple of different ways to do this. You could link CC Particle World to a Null, and animate the null’s position up and down. You’d be able to link that null to the vertical position of the pointer’s tip too.

  Or you could use Wave Warp on an thin, rectangular solid and have that effect create the sine wave for you.
