  Fusion – Make Text Cut Out From Mask

  I’ve put a mask over a black background, and another one over a white background.

  I’ve animated the white to move over the top of the black.

  I’d like to animate text and a picture to be ‘cut-out’ of the white background so you can see the clip underneath it while it’s over the clip and to appear black when it moves over the black.

  Have you already tried to build this effects in Fusion? I would think it should be fairly straight forward having the nodes for your picture and text first, then adding a node for your black and one for your white. Using mask and blending modes should get you there.

  Or do you have a specific question?

  Take your mask, that you have already animated, and plug it into the footage you want it to cut out.

  Comp that over your white bg.

  Comp your text over that.

  Not sure what your black is for…but hey, comp everything over that.
