All those LED lighting choices
Hi all,
Happy Tuesday to you. I have a question to pose. And forgive me for being vague, but I’m just now looking to purchase LED lights. This is the sad part. Id like to spend maybe a $1000 on an led lighting kit. Ive seen a lot of kits in the 650 to high 9’s. Things like GVM and Neewer, all these Chinese companies now. How do they stack up? Or do they? What would be the best way to go for a 3 point led lighting kit to use indoors and out if needed?

I was recently in a similar position. I spent a LOT of time looking around. I guess the big question is what lighting are you using now and how MUCH light do you need?
I decided to go with the Godox UL150s. They were bright enough for my needs, avoid the multi-shadows of the LED Panels, use familiar modifiers and are COMPLETELY silent. I’ve found they have about as much punch as about an 800w tungsten open face, but are daylight only. Right now they are sub $400 per light, take a common Bowens mount for modifiers and even have an umbrella slot. They run cool, can be controlled by an app, and the color accuracy is as good as the Aputure.
If you are feeling rich, the Forza and Aputure light have a few more features (though with a fan) and can be gotten in higher outputs.

Thank you! The Godox lights might just work. I usually light large spaces with someone sitting and people walking into the shot. I’ve seen the Forza and Aputure lights. Right now they are outa my price range. The Godox lights are more what Im used to, being more like a “traditional” studio light. As long as that can zoom out to a “wider” look for a fill light then they will work.
