hi there guys, i need some help.

im working on some pushbuttons in illustrator and im going for a cell shaded look.

however i have no clue how to indicate that the top of the pushbutton is concave (using light/shadow). i dont want to use any gradients or highlights because it would clash with the style. and i dont wanna use too many shades.i searched online but this is a very specific issue. so didnt find anything. any tips?

i included what i have so far and then a real-life reference image as well

(all my attempts so far have resulted in the cell shaded “feel” ruined, no matter what i did)
