    Hi folks,

Can you please refer to Andy’s comment in following thread.
    https://forums.creativecow.net/thread/2/1072046#1072051

I am also experiencing the same problem in After Effects CC that when I press star key on numeric keypad to add a layer marker while I am listening to audio layer (by pressing the dot/period key), there is a lag. The audio playback kinda stops for a while as soon as I press the star key. Is it a matter of some setting in preferences or is there any alternate to add layer markers manually while listening to the audio layer?

I did not have this problem in CS6. Is it some kind of compromise if you want to work with AE CC? I am trying to avoid any script to do this as I want to have my own control as to where exactly I want to have marker and where I don’t.

I feel really stuck owing to above problem, so please help as it would be much appreciated.

    Thanks.
    Syed

    what version and Os. ?
I am on Windows 7, Ae 13.8.1 and it appears to work fine.

try to collapse all the layers. (if you have to see the waveform, try with and without).

I would also try to reset my preferences.

    Hi Roei,

I am on Windows 8.1 operating system and AE version is 13.5.0.347

You have said something about collapsing layers, in my case even with just a single audio layer, I am facing this problem.

the first thing you should do is update your software to the latest of it’s release. 13.5 was very buggy. it had many bug fixes updates. you should update to 13.7.1 then please try again and report back.

update – well what do you know 🙂 look here:
    https://blogs.adobe.com/creativecloud/after-effects-cc-2015-13-5-1-bug-fix-update-fixes-previews/

    this is from the articles:
Adding audio markers during a preview (by pressing * on the numeric keypad) no longer causes the preview frame rate to slow down, which then caused audio to drop or stutter.
