vera blue hold technique?
Hi everyone,
I was wondering if anyone knows how to create something like in this music clip with the lines following the subject. I am hoping there might be an easier way other than rotoscoping and adjusting frame by frame. Sorry for my ignorance, I am quite new to After Effects.

Sure looks rotoscoped to me. Generally speaking, where artisic endeavor is concerned, “easier” isn’t the first thing which comes to the artist’s mind. It’s usually the artist copying the original consept who wants the easy way to go. Don’t take this as an insult please…just a guideline to show you that the easy way will not develop your skill in After Effects. Dive in and and do the work required to become experienced.

I just remember learning something once where I could rotoscope and some effect that somehow make the lines follow the movements of the subject. -
I think you’re thinking of the Roto Brush – it could certainly help you in the process:

What you’d most likely do is to create a copy of the layer you want to roto, then use the Roto Brush, and possibly one of the Matte tools and possibly additional mattes to help create the drawing.
