Arbitrary maps
Recently when playing around with glow, I pressed the option button and it asked for PS arbitrary map. Then I discovered the arbitrary map filter. I tried looking in help in both AE and photoshop to no avail.. I looked online and found nothing but vague answers that it has something to do with curves. Can someone shine some light on the subject?

What a blast from the past! We used to use arb maps for making hokey versions of grunge frames.

I have read the tutorial yet my question still remains unanswered. Where exactly in photoshop can you find this filter. In tutorial it says it is in Image>Map>Arbitrary, yet there is no such thing in my version of photoshop(7). Am I looking in the wrong place? I am guessing that the feature got lost in prior versions of photoshop, yet when I look at arbitrary map filter in AE, the date is 2004. Can you point me in the right direction?

This is a really stupid little thing you have to know, I stumbled on it once by accident:
Open Curves.
Make a curve, then convert it using the little pencil icon, all the vertices will disappear,
You can now edit every single pont of the curve .If you now save the curve, it will be a an .amp-file instead of a .acv file.
That .amp file can be loaded as an arbitrary map in AE-filters like glow I believe.
