  Problem with visual refresh rate on MAC Pro 2013 (specs included)

  Hey there, so one of our work stations is having a real tough time with visual refresh rates. Basically you make a change or move the playhead and AE takes upwards of a minute before showing the change. (sometimes it refreshes when you click outside of the program window or timeline, weird)

  A few notes:

  We have 6 of the same machines (specs below) and we’re all using AE version 13.7.1.1.6, management is waiting to upgrade all the machines.
  The animations we’re making are at Standard Definition (720, 540. don’t ask) Usually a few flats and a character rig (1100, 1200)

  Only one of our machines is having this problem. Sometimes making shape layers or text layers slows the program to a crawl. Anybody else experiencing any problems like this? We’ve tried clearing the cache and trashing preferences, nothin

  that’s a hard one to troubleshoot…

  have tried running activity monitor and watching that when you see these hangs, and compare what you see there with what you see on another mac? you can sort the processes by CPU usage by clicking that column header… you might be able to see if there is a particular process that is causing the issue.

  i have seen a similar issue, but it was only with the Cineware plugin. the only fix i found was to reformat the main driver and reinstall OS X and all the software… pain in the ars, but it did fix the issue.
