I acquired footage shot with iPhone 12Pro in 4K mounted on the DJI OM4. I need to edit this footage in MC but can’t seem to link nor import these mp4 files through the source browser. The final error lists the files as “unknown”. I work on version 8.9.4 in the office but have access to the latest 2020 version at home.

Is the problem with the older editing software, the phone settings during capture, or a combination? Do I need to convert the mp4 prior to linking?

I’m impressed with how the camera handled snow and night footage so getting this figured out will help with low/no budget projects. Thanks in advance.

MC still doesn’t support HEVC/H265 (which is the codec of your iPhone footage), you will need to create new masters in order link and transcode. Or you can create new masters in Resolve and import via .ale workflow.

    Footage sounds great!

As of 2020.11 or 12 Media Composer does support HEVC.

    Take it EZ,
