Multiple Studio Control System
Hi All
New here and hoping someone can help me. I find myself in a situation unique to my 20+ years of AV experience. I’m currently the Technical Director at a House of Worship. We have streamed services and special events for a few years, with a system that was in place before I was hired. Canon camera into a Blackmagic Hyperdeck for recording, and an output sent to a Teradek Cube for streaming. The camera shot captured our entire stage, and we manually zoomed if we had a speaker at the lectern.
When COVID hit we expanded. Added graphics and lower thirds via ProPresenter and Blackmagic ATEM. Panasonic PTZ too, controlled over CAT. That’s added a more professional feel, and we can zoom and cut between shots fairly well. We’re looking to expand more, but there’s a bit of a problem.
Our current booth isn’t very big, and has become full quite fast. It was the operating point for audio and video. Now we’ve added more cameras and lighting. Really, our AV team could be 4 people for an event: FOH sound, stream sound, slides/graphics, cameras/lighting/video switching. We even have space to expand – my office is directly below the AV booth, and we have some access between floors. That office is going to be redesigned into a streaming suite with another audio console and a video station.
Here’s the catch – some smaller events might have a crew of just 1 or 2 techs. I can handle audio easily, and make the output switchable. I’m having trouble figuring out how to duplicate the video controls.
tldr: How can I have the option for control over PTZ cameras and video switching from two locations, as needed? Are there good hardware pieces for this? OR software control only?
Thanks
