FCPX 10.5 released
Posted by Steve Connor on November 12, 2020 at 11:36 pmFCPX 10.5 just released, looks like it’s mostly Apple Silicon features. Great if you have an M1 Mac, a bit disappointing if you haven’t. It’s got a new icon though

November 12, 2020 at 11:45 pmNot a bad list of fixes here though:
https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201237
Includes: Includes built-in support for Avid DNxHR and Avid DNxHD decoding and playback.

November 13, 2020 at 12:43 amI though DNx playback support was already in X. Was this a bug fix?

November 13, 2020 at 1:44 amIt was never built in as playback. It would transcode, though.

November 13, 2020 at 5:50 pmAm I wrong that Apple appears to be dropping the X? There’s certainly Big Sur as number 11, but most of the language I’m seeing refers to Final Cut Pro. Even the few links remaining to FCPX all redirect to URLs that eschew the X (exchew?), for pages that just say Final Cut Pro.

I don’t remember this always being the case, but I can’t say that I’ve been watching too closely. Is this new or nay?

November 15, 2020 at 4:20 amFor all the projected hope that 10.5 might be a major upgrade, it seems totally underwhelming. Now dropping the X, are they thinking we no longer maintain the rage against the previous dearly departed Final Cut Pro? I know I’ve moved on completely but exchanging X for Pro seems more like the kiss of death.
