  Grab Object

  Hi,

  does anybody know how to move an object along with a second object in after effects. like a finger moving a card or something. it has to follow an objects motion path but just for a short time. something like grabing. I’m doin an explainer video and want photos of hands have moving other objects around.

  A relatively simple way to do this is to parent the object to the hand (or null following the hand) at the “grab” point, then split the object footage into three pieces, one split at the “grab” point, another in the “release” point, then remove parenting from the first and last piece.
