I have a problem with cloner objects. I’m trying to create a chain which looks fine until I render it and every 5th link is missing. Tried every setting under the sun. Even replaced the chain link with just a cube. Every 5th cube is missing. Any ideas? Many thanks in advance

    Hi Ray,

I can’t duplicate your issue. I’m assuming that your simply using step rotation in the cloner to create the alternating links. Could you upload the project file by posting a Dropbox link (Google Drive, etc.)?

The “attach a document” button at the bottom of the reply window now works with C4D files, so if you want to upload your project file you can use that.

Got it. Thanks Ray. I see exactly what you reported, but haven’t figured out why yet. I should have more time tomorrow, so I will keep looking and let you know if I can find the issue. Perhaps someone else will take a look as well.

Ok, found the fix. In the Render Settings > Options > Level of Detail, set it to 100% (Anything below 95% results in the issue you were experiencing).

I don’t know what’s going on there, but since Level of Detail (see the help) refers to subdivisions, perhaps it has something to do with the “Subdivision Manipulator” that appears in your Filter view. I have never seen that before, and can’t find it in the help. I’m guessing that some setting is affecting the subdivisions of the clones, and your original setting of 80% in the Level of Detail caused the issue of missing clones. I’m at a loss to explain what’s going on there, but perhaps someone more knowledgeable will chime in.

I hope all that time I spent hunting down a solution to your issue was helpful and appreciated, but I guess I’ll never know.
