Hi all,

Got a problem. I have a bunch of mp4 files I’m working with, all link to Avid fine except for one which crashes the whole system every time I try. As a work around I’ve been trying to import the clip into my project, this works but results in pixelation of the clip in some but not all parts. I’ve also tried converting the clip in other programs first but either get the same result re pixels or it crashes that program like it does Avid. I’m at a loss and tearing my hair out.

I’m running an old version of Media Composer 7.0.2 on a windows 8.

The clip in question is a clip of Back to the Future, presumably shot at 24fps, but delivered to me at 23.98.

Could there be a problem with the clip being corrupt in some way? Although it plays back fine outside of Avid…

    Thanks,

    Gabe

    Sounds like a duff clip.

    I’d convert outside MC

V7 you are a long way behind a lots improved re codec support.

Hmm, yeah that’s what I was thinking too. And yes, annoyingly still running V7, buggy as hell. Thanks for the advice

Is it a legit back to future clip from the studio, or something some ripped? If legit, I would start by redownloading, or requst they re-upload.

Either way, if it is causing multiple programs to crash, you have a corrupt clip…stop tearing your hair out and ask for a replacement.

Thanks for the offer Pat, very kind. Got a buddy of mine to convert it on his machine in the end.

Yes, it’s legit. Wanted to try to sort it myself as the studio has been painfully slow responding in the past. Will contact them again anyhow. Cheers
