  2D Wormhole Effect?

  I found this video which has this 2D Wormhole effect. I am trying to re-create this in after effects. To me, it looks like it was made with masks, just scaling down but I can’t seem to get it to work. I’ve tired a couple of different things but they work up to a point. Like, it will scale down but not go completely off screen and look bad. I also can’t adjust the speed with any method I’ve tried. I’m trying to make it loop-able to be played on screens around a church. Any ideas?

  If I were to create this, I would make a triangular tunnel in C4D.

  C4D Lite comes free with AE [link].

  The easiest way to make this would be to use a sweep object. Sweep a triangle shape along a meandering spline. Then, use a material with no color or specular and play with the luminance channel to get the colors you need.
