I’m creating titles using Lower Third. I line up multiple title clips, all fade up together. But they do not, one fades later. it’s happened a few times.

    Here’s an example: https://vimeo.com/461468808

Also, is there another title besides Lower Third that is as straightforward for end titles, nothing fancy?

    thanks,
    Roger

I imagine you made sure that the Dissolve In for each title is the SAME duration

I stepped through your video on Vimeo, one frame at a time using Shift+RightArrow. It looks like the centered “Special Thanks” and names in the left column fade in together, but the four names in the right column appear as though they don’t have a transition at the beginning.

I use Basic Text for my Lower Thirds and don’t recall having a problem of different text fading in differently.

There are several third-party FCPX plug-ins for creating two-column credits. Some are free or low cost; others are more expensive. Most allow you to center the heading, and then have two (or sometimes more) columns below it. Since it is a single clip made from one of these plug-ins, everything transitions at the same pace.

Here is a directory of sites that offer free (and paid) FCPX plug-ins:

I made no disolve, it seemed to be a default that I’ve not figured out. sometimes they pop, sometimes fade up. is there a place to change the default setting. dragging the disolve on the clip doesn’t change anything.

Sounds strange. I just dropped the “Basic Lower Third” title into the timeline and there was no fade on it.

I usually use the CUSTOM title for all my on screen text.
In the Properties you can control just about anything you can imagine. There is a good tutorial someone created on using this. Maybe google it in YouTube.

Try taking all your title clips, make them longer than you need. Then create a NEW COMPOUND clip. Now, if the titles fade up at different times, you can just cut the opening off, so there is no fade. Then add any type of fade or effect to the front of the Compound Clip.

Go highlight it and look at the inspector more closely: some preset titles come with a default behavior(s) you must check or un-check, to get what you need.

YES! That was it. Build In Build Out were both checked. When I unchecked them, no fade up. But interestingly, a few titles do not show those choices, only Published Parameters of which there are none. Odd.

    Thank you!
