  How do I “lock” an effect in place?

  Hi. Im kinda new to this whole Adobe After Effects thing, and right now Im just creating explosions in gifs with it. Yippie.

  Anyways, Is there any way to lock an explosion to stay in the same place? In the GIF Im editing, the camera moves along with the skater, but I dont think Im able to motion-track the explosion to stay in the same place for the whole gif. Any help?

  Sounds like you have to do it manually by keyframing the position.
