Having a serious brain fart working with SD footage scanned from DigiBeta tapes.

How is NTSC 720×480 4:3 and 16:9 but calculates to 3:2?

Is this have to do with the dimensions of the individual pixels, not the resolution itself?

Even after reading various Wikipedia articles. I’m still confused.

The pixels are not square as they are in HD and UHD.
They are either 4:3 or 16:9aspect ratio pixels. Hence why you need a flag to indicate if they arec4:3 or 16:9
