    Hi there!

I think I may fundamentally not understand what action and title safe margins are. In premiere, you can change what they are. For the sake of the example (and my work), I changed them both to 15% of a 1920×1080 frame. The left/right bars came in at 144 px & 1776px. But 15% of 1920 is 288. So why are the left/right bars not coming in at 288px and 1632px??

I would really love someone’s guidance here. Thanks in advance!

When SMTPE updated the safe areas for HDTV, the margins retreated so that safe title was at the 90% mark and safe action was 93%. I believe prior to that the defaults were 80% and 90% respectively.

Don’t forget, your bars came in 144 pixels from each side for a total of 288 pixels. That is 15% of the frame, as intended.

Wow! Thank you for explaining this. I definitely didn’t understand what the 10% (action) / 20% (title) numbers meant before. Thank youuuuuu
