  • Parent object to terminal copy in a repeater

I want the final copy of a shape in a repeater to act as a matte for another layer.

My thought process is basically to write an expression to parent a duplicate layer of the repeated shape to the terminal copy of the repeater. So I duplicate the base shape of the repeater layer, and then write an expression in the duplicate’s position to add the repeater’s transform values x the number of copies.:

    [base layer].transform.position + [base layer].content(“Repeater 1”).transform.position)*[base layer].content(“Repeater 1”).copies

This works fine for the position property, however the same code breaks down with rotation and scale, as the repeater rotates off the previous iteration’s anchor point, and my layer just matches the rotation in place (the red triangle is the duplicate):

Anyone know how to get this to work? Not sure if there’s even a simpler method that I’m not thinking about.
