Hi, I pre-composed this face with a basic mouth movement. Then I ran a Track Motion operation to make it move with the head from the movie. The hair from the pre-compositioned face goes above the main area of interest at times. I tried to use a shape layer with set matte technique but this just moved with the pre-composed face.
I had to key frame a mask on the pre-composed head to keep the hair out of the black area.

What is the simple way to do this please?

You need to mask it over the top on a new layer.
You can either do that by creating the mask on a new and set it to track matte the face layer, or by copying the original layer and masking that layer on top of the comped one.
