Automated morphing
I am working on a project where I need to loop a live actor performing a series of repetitive movements. He performs each move for 4 or 8 bars of music. At the end of each movement, his arms and legs arrive back to approximately the same position, but not close enough that I can loop without a noticeable jump.
Crossfades don’t look clean enough, so I have been using the Reshape effect. I create a mask at the end of the loop and set it as the Source Mask. The Destination Mask is created from the beginning point of the loop. I use enough correspondence points to make it look smooth. Then I set key frames from 0% to 100% over about half a beat of music and he gets morphed back to his starting point. It works pretty well.
The only snag is that I have about 120 of these things to do. It is very time consuming drawing all those masks. Does anyone know of an automated way to do this?
