I want a bunch of dollars to fall to the floor into a large unorderly pile. (looks like https://www.absoluterights.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/pile-of-money.jpeg)

It can look cartoony, so I will probably be using Illustrator to make the design.

Any ideas on how to animate this? I would prefer not to animate each bill. Here are a few of mine:

    1. Make a few comps of animated bills falling, and duplicate them to land in different spots in the pile. This seems like the best idea but I don’t know if there will be enough variation in bill movement.

    2. Particular: problem is, Particular doesn’t support particle-particle interaction, so the dollars couldn’t land in a pile. Falling dollars, however, look really cool and real.

    Any other ideas? Thanks!

    Michael –

How about shooting a pile of real dollars falling to the floor, and then applying some cartoony effects to them (if you require that)? It sure won’t cost much, and it will look better than anything you can do in the 2D world, and without the bunch of work and expense needed to pull it off in the 3D world.

I like the idea of compositing, but I don’t access to a camera and gear. Thanks though!

You can use Particular with preanimated dollar as a particle.
As soon as you will emit enough dollars, you can revert time.

forgot to mention thanks for the help y’all. What I ended up doing was making a pile of bills illustration in AI, animating one bill, and then parenting the other bills to it by expression (adding delay and position changes). It looks good.
