Batch Capture with AJA Ki Pro rack?
Our Creative Services & Promotions team is looking into new video capture options. We are still primarily shooting MiniDV. We currently ingest through a DVCPro deck- using a tape adaptor. And import into FCP using an AJA Io.
As part of an office remodel, our TV station’s chief engineer has suggested that we convert to a hardware-based ingest, rather than software-based. He thinks the AJA Ki Pro rack is the best option. I only have one concern that he wasn’t able to address: batch capturing.
Is there a way to batch capture multiple clips at once using the AJA Ki Pro rack? Both our Creative and Promotions producers like to “pre-edit” clips rather than capturing an entire tape, so we don’t have to work with unwieldy file sizes. So it would be nice to have clips that could be reconnected if capture file is deleted (by having stored ‘in’ and ‘out’ points.
One other note: we will be setting up this “new” capture station on a PC with Adobe Premiere, rather than a Mac with FCP.
Any thoughts/suggestions?
Many thanks,
