Viz/Curious maps alternatives.
Hi,
I am looking at having to fire out a handful of ‘military overview’ maps of world war 2.
The initial plan is to use some ‘DEM’ files (32 bit greyscale RAW relief maps) to bump-map up a 3d mesh. I’ll then texture up with scans of contemporary maps.
During the search for the DEM files, I was pointed at Viz/Curious maps as an alternative solution. While it looks good, the price tag is not really suitable to the budget of this job.
I’ve already had to rule out google/bing maps on account of the required ‘branding badge’ that they require, but it got me to wondering if there was any other, more budget minded solution out there.
Anyone have any gems of info they could share?
