Alright – the hunt is on. I’m hoping someone could help me find an example of a certain type of animation – I’ve got a client that the concept would work well with, but he needs to view a sample of it.

While once scouring the internet for ideas, I stumbled upon a video (I think it was actually done by Apple) where a 2-3 minute video was done entirely with animated still shots. The unique aspect of it was that it was done in a kind of style that mixes video ideas with still shooting. For an example, one shot was down a row of individuals in a computer lab setting. Over the course of 10 frames or so (it looked to be a 10fps) there’s a rack focus from one person to the next. In another shot, there’s a zoom coupled with a physical move of the camera. Other shots are locked shots where elements dissolve in, etc.

    Any ideas?

check youtube for the Rolling STone svideo: “Like a ROlling Stone”. This was all stills that were morphed one into another.

I remember a ResFest short film called “Terminal Bar” that was mostly animated still photos…

The other example that people reference a lot is “The Kid Stays in the Picture”… although I’ve never seen it.

I don’t know what the video is that you’re referring to, but the technique sounds like pixillation

It’s only work if you’d rather be doing something else…
