  Head Tracking

  Hello everyone!

  I would like to achieve the effect of having a single number floating above the head of a moving person and, at times, several moving people.

  Any tips? Tutorials I should see?

  I also have access to Pftrack if there are features in this program that will help me… (Although I have never used it)

  I assume that I can track the position of the head with the tracker in after effects and then will have to manually adjust the scale and rotation. However, I’m not sure whether I should use tracker markers on people or track somewhere on the person’s body rather than the head…

  Any help would be appreciated! (Including shooting tips) I am a film student and am shooting this Saturday.

  Just so you know:
  We are shooting on an HVX at 24p. The camera will handheld. Nothing on a tripod.

  naa don’t add points on em. Just ensure there is always a natural point you can track. Like, don’t be counting on tracking the eye if they are blinking or turning theur head… use a button on their jacket type of thing. You can accentuate this point as you shoot but if you make an obvious X or something like that, you are just creating roto hell for yourself.
  No probs with the nadheld. They’ll be qick and you’ll find trackable points no problemo. You can keyframe as needed if you have to too so as long as they are used in quick cuts like this example, you’ll have no worries.
