I’ve been trying to capture an SD signal (576i/50) straight to a single frame sequence in Machina with the LH via single link SD-SDI (latest 2.0.2 driver/software). But I get an error that the color space is not supported. Neither does it work to capture into a quicktime codec with 4:4:4.
I could imagine that this only works with the Xena 2k when capturing a dual link signal. But when I choose to store TGA or TIFF or DPX or … with an alpha channel (RGBA 4:4:4:4) it works perfectly, except for 25% data trash filling up the disks.
In HD it works as I would except capturing 4:2:2 and 4:4:4 from a single link source works, as long as bit depth matches the incoming signal.
Am I missing something or is this something I had to find out by myself, since it is not mentioned anywhere in the manual.

    thanks,
    dirk

    Hi Drik,

I had previously talked with AJA about this and they told me that 8-bit RGB/BGR 4:4:4 and 10-bit RGB 4:4:4 colorspaces(one exception ‘r10k’ in QuickTime) aren’t supported in SD mode on the LH yet for capture or playback.

    Dezmond,
thanks for the info. But I still just don’t get -technically- , why it works with RGBA 4:4:4:4 … and not without the alpha channel. I’ll probably ask them at IBC.
